What is this brown paper in my Chapman set?

The brown sheet of paper that you'll find in our larger sets (#1000, #5575, etc), along with our bit cards, is known as VCI paper. VCI stands for Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor. This paper has molecules that work hard to protect metals from corrosion by creating a super thin, invisible layer on the surface of the metal. This layer acts like a shield, stopping the corrosion process that can be caused by oxygen, water, and other contaminants.

What does your Warranty cover?

Chapman prides itself on the quality of our products. Our tools are guaranteed to be as represented and free of defects caused by defective materials or faulty workmanship.

In order to keep open stock part prices reasonable, we cannot offer replacement of tools in use for many years (sometimes 30+) that wear out/break. Our warranty guards against defective materials and faulty workmanship. Tool replacement requires that faulty parts be mailed back to us with proof of purchase within three years. Free international replacement(s) are not always available. Our warranty does not cover products that are improperly used, abused or altered.

To see if your bits, tools, or kits qualify for our Warranty; please fill out the Chapman Warranty Eligibility Form.

What is the difference between Torx and Star Bits??

Chapman star bits fit Torx screws just as well as Torx bits, but are an overall improved design!

Do you make custom bits or tools?

Unfortunately we do not take orders for small quantities (5k min qty) tools with custom specifications. This is because our machinery and equipment are designed and programmed specifically to produce the tools that we make and it requires a large amount of resources and time to manufacture a new tool.

That being said, we do take orders for custom tool sets made up of the tools we already produce, as well as custom labeling. For more information please see our custom sets page and/or contact joel@chapmanmfg.com
